
William IV, dated 1835. 16ins high by 9.75ins wide. 1835 Scottish Sampler by Margaret Rees. Framed in an old wood frame with rippled, old glass.
Fixed to card with wood backing.
The sampler is worked in cotton and fine wool on canvas ground, in cross stitch throughout.
Simple embroidered border, and divider lines in various patterns.
Colours red, green, light brown, white, blues and pink. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case and numbers 1-15.
Signed and dated 'Margaret Rees s Work Made in the 10 Year of her age 1835'.
A few motifs including strawberries, hearts and diamonds.
CONDITION: Good. One hole that has been repaired.
A few dark stain specks.
Some stitch losses to the border, divider lines, the signature, motifs and letters.
Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. Pale colours difficult to read.
No colour run. Unevenly stretched.
Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
