George IV, dated 1829. 12.25ins by 12ins wide. Antique Sampler, 1829, by Elizabeth Robinson.

Framed in an old maple frame with gilt slip and rippled, old glass.

Loose mounted with paper backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.

Meandering strawberry border.

Colours greens, cream, copper, browns and blue.

Inscription reads

'Favour is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a

woman that feareth the LORD, she fhall be

praised.'

Signed and dated,

'Elizabeth Robinson 1829'.

A wonderful set of motifs, including stags,

birds,

trees, laden with fruit,

fruit baskets,

crowns,

potted flowering plants,

hearts and diamonds.

CONDITION: Good.

A few small holes.

No stains other than slight uniform age darkening of the ground.

No stitch losses other than to the holed areas.

Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading.

No colour run.

Stretching is slightly uneven.

Frame showing some wear, but is structurally sound and in our opinion could be hung 'as is'.
