
George IV, dated 1826. 11.25ins by 12.25ins wide. 1826 Acton House Sampler by Louise Nuttman. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.
Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.
The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.
Meandering strawberry border.
Colours greens, cream, white, black, pink, brown and blues. Signed and dated, 'Louisa Nuttman's Work Finished December the 16th 1826 Acton House'.
A wonderful set of motifs, some finely embroidered, including a lady standing at a garden gate,
birds,
flowers,
stags,
fir trees,
trees, sheep,
butterflies
and swans.
CONDITION: Good. A few holes to the bottom edge.
No stains other than slight uniform age darkening of the ground.
Minor stitch losses to a few of the motifs.
Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run. Stretching is slightly uneven.
Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
