Antique Sampler, 1821, with Amsterdam Coat of Arms

George IV, dated 1821. 15ins wide by 17ins high.

1821 Dutch, Amsterdam Sampler. Framed in a modern wood frame with glass.

Fixed to card with chipboard backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout.

Meandering floral border.

Colours brown, cream, blue, green, navy blue, copper, light green, black and red.

Family initials SD BD SD TD.

Dated

'1821'.

A wonderful set of motifs, including the Amsterdam Coat of arms,

a windmill,

a Dutch style house,

dogs,

a temple,

crowns with initials below (FID TD SM AC),

potted flowering plants,

fruits,

peacock,

a bird in a cage,

two slaves

and fruit baskets.

CONDITION: Good.

Two stains.

Neatly and evenly stretched.

Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
