
George III, dated 1804. 16.5ins by 13.25ins wide. 1804 Sampler by Ann Parsons. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.
Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.
The sampler is worked in silks on a linen ground, in a variety of stitches including Algerian eye.
Meandering leafy border.
Colours browns, cream, blue, yellow, pale blue, white, greens and pinks. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case and numbers 1-27

A good set of motifs, including temples, birds, fir trees, crowns, lions and fruit baskets.
CONDITION: Generally good. A few small holes.
A couple of dark patchy stains, one to the top edge and one to the bottom.
Slight uniform age darkening of the ground.
Minor stitch losses to the border, divider lines and letters/numbers.
Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined. No colour run.
Stretching is very slightly uneven.
Frame in very good condition, ready to hang.
