Antique Sampler, 1736, by Ann Keele

George II, dated 1736. 17.5ins by 9.25ins wide. 1736 Sampler by Ann Keele.

Framed in a modern wood frame with glass.

Stitched to linen with wood backing.

The sampler is worked in a silk-like thread on linen ground, in cross stitch and Algerian eye. No border, divider lines in various patterns. Colours green, cream, pink and pale blue. Alphabets A-Z in upper case.

Verses read,

CONDITION: Good. No holes. A few stain specks.

Minor stitch losses to the divider lines and letters.

Colours are mostly good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run. Neatly and evenly stretched. Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
