pre-Victorian, circa 1820. 4.7ins high, 4.1ins wide, 2.5ins depth. Staffordshire pearlware bocage figure which features a deer, recumbent on a shaped hollow base.
Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.
Condition
Generally good. Small chips and flakes around the lower base edge and to deer's mouth.
Leaf behind deer head chipped off.
Some other minor chips to the bocage.
Some flakes.
KILN EFFECT: shrinkage crack with associated firing hole under deer's stomach.
