Pair Staffordshire Disraeli flower basket spaniels
Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 7.8ins high, 5.1ins wide, 3.7ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a spaniel with Disraeli curls on it's head and a flower basket in it's mouth (The curls represent Disraeli's, elected Prime Minister 1868 and Queen Victoria’s favourite), seated directly on the ground, no base. Dull gilt embellishment.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse. Vent hole to the reverse.
Condition
Right facing: Generally good. Hairline to reverse.
Flakes to chest, nose, basket handle, and left ear.
Some paint losses to leaves.
Slight wear to reverse and basket rim.
Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: touch mark to rump; notable crazing.
RESTORATION: filled chip to left front paw.
Left facing: Generally good. Flakes to basket handle, front left paw, nose, left eyebrow and ear.
Slight rubbing to gilt.
Slight wear to reverse.
KILN EFFECTS: notable crazing;
craze lines.
RESTORATION: filled chip to front right paw.
