Pair Staffordshire 'Chunky' gilt & white spaniels

Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 12.4ins high, 9.8ins wide, 7.1ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a 'chunky' spaniel with front leg molded free, seated directly on the ground, no base.



White and gilt version. Dull gilt embellishment.





Flatback, decorated only to the front.







Vent hole to the underside.




Condition

CONDITION: Right facing: Good.

Bruise to underside of base.



Small flake to reverse.



KILN EFFECTS: kiln soot caught in the glaze to the front and reverse;









touch marks to both ears and reverse.







RESTORATION. Stabilised and retouched crack to right front paw.



Retouched flakes to paws.





Left facing: Generally good.

KILN EFFECTS: kiln soot caught in the glaze to the front and reverse;







touch marks to the reverse







and one to the left front paw;



a few specks of kiln grit caught in the glaze to the front.



RESTORATION. Left front leg reglued and join retouched.



Filled chip to right front paw.
