Staffordshire Pearlware 'Our Lady of Sorrows' Virgin with Christ figure

Pre-Victorian, circa 1820. 9.1ins high, 5.9ins wide, 4.7ins depth.

Staffordshire group with a religious theme which features the Virgin Mary holding Jesus Christ after his death, seated on a square base.



The piece is titled, 'N.S. Da Piedade (Our Lady of Sorrows)' .



Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.





Open bottomed. Maker's marks to the underside.

Condition

Generally good. Chip to base at rear.



Flaking to Christ's arms, legs and to base.















RESTORATION: remodelled Christ's left hand and the thumb and index finger of his right hand.







Filled chip to front right corner of base.



Retouched flakes to clothes,

base and ground.
