Staffordshire Jackfield Hen on Nest Tureen

Victorian, circa 1860. 6.1ins high, 7.7ins wide, 5.7ins depth.

Staffordshire Pottery egg tureen and cover which features a hen on a basket, seated on a basketweave oval base.

Jackfield black version. Dull gilt embellishment.

Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Condition

Hen: Generally good. No restoration. Some small flakes to base rim.

Paint losses to comb and wattle.

Slight rubbing to gilt.

Nest: Generally good. No restoration. Small chips to inner rim.

A couple of small flake to exterior.

Gilt almost entirely rubbed away.

KILN EFFECTS: staining to the interior.
