
Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 9.8ins high, 5.5ins wide, 3.1ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire Pottery figures which feature a whippet holding a hare in it's mouth. A fence is behind the dogs, resting on an oblong base.
Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Vent hole to the underside.
CONDITION: Right facing: Good. Some small flakes to the dog's head and fence panel.
A few paint losses to ground;
shrinkage crack to the underside of the base;
touch mark to the reverse of the base.
RESTORATION. Retouched paint losses to ground.
Left facing: Good. A few paint losses to ground and hare.
KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to the underside of the base;
shrinkage crack to the dog's front left leg,
and another to side and reverse of the base;
small firing pit to dog's left shoulder.
