Pair Staffordshire Pottery Piebald Horses/Ponies

Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 5.5ins high, 4.3ins wide, 2ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire Pottery figures which feature a piebald horse/pony, stood on an oblong base.

Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Vent holes to the underside.

Condition

CONDITION: Right facing: Good.

Slight rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECTS: a few specks of kiln grit caught in the glaze to the horse's body;

flecks of stray coloured glaze to the horse's tail.

RESTORATION. Retouched flakes to ears.

Left facing: Generally good.

Minor abrasions to the horse.

Slight rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to the horse's back and underside of base.

RESTORATION. Head reglued and join retouched.

Stabilised and retouched hairline to horse's front left leg.

Retouched flake to tail.

Filled chip to base edge

and both ears.
