
Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 10.2ins high, 6.3ins wide, 4.7ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire Pottery figures which feature a spaniel, seated directly on the ground, no base. White and gilt version.
Dull gilt embellishment. Flatback, decorated only to the front. Vent hole to the reverse.
Maker's marks no.2 molded into the underside.
CONDITION: Right facing: Good. Some rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: a few specks of kiln grit caught in the glaze to the underside, front and reverse;
small glaze miss to the dog's tail.
RESTORATION. Retouched paint losses to nose and eyes.
Left facing: Good. Crack to reverse lower base edge with associated flakes.
Some rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage line to top of dog's left ear;
piece of kiln detritus caught inside causing piece to rattle;
a speck of kiln grit caught in the glaze to the front.
