Pair Staffordshire Pottery Children on Afghan hounds

Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 6.7ins high, 6.9ins wide, 3ins depth.

Pair of Staffordshire Pottery figures which feature children holding pups, seated on the back of Afghan hounds, recumbent on an oblong base.

White and gilt version. Dull gilt embellishment. Decorated mainly to the front.

Vent hole to the reverse. Book reference ,'Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875' Book 3, by A.& N. Harding, page 218, figure a2268/a2269.

Condition

Right facing: Good. Slight rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage cracks and hairline to the lower base edge.

RESTORATION. Retouched paint losses to the black enamel.

Left facing: Good. Slight rubbing to gilt;

kiln grit caught in the glaze to the front of the base;

shrinkage cracks to the top and underside of base.

RESTORATION. Retouched paint losses to the black enamel.
