
Victorian, circa 1880. 5.7ins high, 5.3ins wide, 4.5ins depth. Staffordshire Pottery tobacco jar and cover which features a spaniel's head, stood directly on the ground, no base. Russet and white version.
Bright gilt embellishment. Decorated mainly to the front.
CONDITION: Jar: Good. No restoration. Some paint losses to russet markings.
Some rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: kiln soot caught in the glaze to rim and reverse.
Cover: Generally good. Some paint losses to russet markings, right eye and muzzle.
KILN EFFECTS: touch mark to right ear; thin glaze application to muzzle.
RESTORATION. Filled chip and stabilised and retouched associated crack to the reverse.
