standing by a milestone, on an oval base.
The piece is titled, 'DICK WHITTINGTON' .

Dull gilt base line, title and embellishment.
Flatback, decorated only to the front.
Vent hole to the reverse.
This piece represents English folklore surrounding the real-life Richard Whittington (c. 1354–1423), wealthy merchant and later Lord Mayor of London.
CONDITION: Good. No restoration.
Small flake to rim of his hat.
A few paint losses to his hair
and right boot.
KILN EFFECTS: kiln soot caught in the glaze;
touch mark to the side of the milestone;
shrinkage crack to the top of his hat.
