Staffordshire hen on nest tureen

Victorian, circa 1860. 8.3ins high, 9.4ins wide, 6.7ins depth.

Staffordshire Pottery tureen with cover which features a hen with her eggs, resting on an oval basketweave tureen base.

Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Condition

Hen: Generally good. A few paint losses to wattle and feathers.

RESTORATION. Remodelled tip of beak.

Retouched chips to base edge.

Nest: Generally good. No restoration. Flakes and chips to inner rim.

KILN EFFECTS: a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the exterior;

flecks of stray coloured glaze to the interior
