Staffordshire Pottery egg tureen and cover which features a hen sitting with her eggs, seated on a basketweave oval base.
White and gilt version. Dull gilt embellishment. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Hen: Good. No restoration. Some rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: firing hole to the tail feathers;
over glazed shrinkage line to the hen's neck;
a few specks of kiln soot caught in the glaze to the hen.
Nest: Good. No restoration. Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the exterior.
