Large Staffordshire Pottery Country House pastille burner

Victorian, circa 1850. 7.1ins high, 9.1ins wide, 9.1ins depth. Staffordshire Pottery pastille burner which features a country house

with decorative chimneys and gable spires, sat on a shaped flower encrusted base.

Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Vent holes are present.

 

Condition

CONDITION: Base: Generally good.

Chips and flakes to flowers.

KILN EFFECTS: kiln soot caught in the glaze to the base and underside.

RESTORATION: Stabilised crack running across 3/4 of base.

Several flowers remodelled.

House: Generally good.

A few small chips to roof.

A few small flakes to tops of the windows.

KILN EFFECTS: thin glaze application to the roof.

RESTORATION: Filled chip to corner of wall at reverse and roof to porch.

Two of the gable decorations are partially remodelled.

Chimneys and spires reglued and joins retouched. Old restoration has discoloured in places.

Top of one spire remodelled.
