Pair Staffordshire 'Milk Sold Here' cow spill vases

Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 14.1ins high, 13.6ins wide, 3.8ins depth.

Pair of Staffordshire Pottery spill vases with a pastoral theme which feature cows, stood on an oblong base.

The pieces are titled, 'MILK SOLD HERE' to the fronts. Russet and white version. Dull gilt titles and embellishment. Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.

Condition

Right facing: Good. Some small flakes to title and base.

Rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECTS: over glazed shrinkage line to the spill;

a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze.

RESTORATION. Filled chip to right horn.

Left facing: Generally good. Some rubbing to gilt.

Wear to the base and to reverse.

KILN EFFECTS: slight staining to the base and to reverse;

over glazed shrinkage line to the spill.

RESTORATION. Filled chips to both horns.

Left hind leg reglued and joins retouched.
