Pair of Staffordshire Pottery figures which feature a spaniel, seated directly on the ground, no base.
Black and white version. Dull gilt embellishment.
Decorated mainly to the front. Vent hole to the reverse.
Right facing: Generally good. Small flakes to paws.
A minor paint loss to right eye.
Some rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: stained crazing to the front;
a few specks of kiln grit caught in the glaze to the reverse.
RESTORATION. Stabilised and retouched crack to underside and reverse.
Left facing: Good. Some small flakes to the lower base edge and reverse.
Very slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: minor kiln soot caught in the glaze to the front and reverse;
shrinkage crack to the lower base edge;
glaze miss to left ear.
RESTORATION. Retouched flake to nose.
