Staffordshire pottery figure, Prince of Wales as a sailor

Victorian, circa 1860. 7.7ins high, 3.9ins wide, 2.2ins depth. Staffordshire figure with a royalty theme which features a young boy dressed as a sailor,

with a boat on a chair, stood on a shaped base.

Dull gilt embellishment. Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.

Vent hole to the underside.

This piece represents The Prince of Wales as a boy. Book reference ,'Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875' Book 3, by A.& N. Harding, page 56, figure a553.

Condition

CONDITION: Generally good.

Gilt almost entirely rubbed away.

KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the front and reverse.

RESTORATION. Filled chip to arm of chair

and back of hat.

Retouched flakes.
