Pair of Staffordshire pearlware bocage figures with a religious theme which feature Elijah feeding two ravens and the Widow holding a stick with her son by her side, seated on a square base.
The pieces are titled, 'ELIJAH' and 'WIDOW' to the fronts.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Vent hole to the underside.
This piece represents the Biblical story of Elijah and the Widow of Zarephath.
Elijah: Generally good. Shallow chip to upper base edge, on reverse.
Shallow chip underneath front corner.
Some abrasion to front corners of the base and to his hands.
Small section of bocage missing from behind his head.
RESTORATION. His head reglued and join retouched.
A few filled chips and retouched flakes to bocage, which is 90% original pottery.
Retouched flakes to birds.
The Widow: Generally good. Chip to leaf on ground.
Shallow chip to base edge on rear right side.
KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to the jug.
RESTORATION. The bocage tree is reglued and the join retouched.
Filled chips to sticks in both their hands.
Retouched flake to her nose and right hand.
Filled chips to bocage, which is in overall good condition and is 90% original material.
