
Early 20thC, circa 1906. 4.3ins high, 6.6ins wide, 2.4ins depth. Bordalo Pinheiro Portuguese Palissy Majolica toothpick holder which features a matador wrestling with a bull.
Colouration: brown, ochre, green, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Bordalo Pinheiro pottery. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1906.
CONDITION: Good. No restoration. Some wear to the bull's tail and man's hat.
KILN EFFECTS: a few glaze pops to the man;
glaze miss to the man's face, neck and hand; some glaze misses to the man's shirt and the base rim.
