Majolica Palissy ware Lizards & beetle plate

Victorian, circa 1890. 6.9ins high, 6.9ins wide, 2.2ins depth. Palissy Majolica wall plate which features two lizards and a rhinoceros beetle.

Colouration: green, brown, cream, are predominant.

Condition

CONDITION: Good. Small chip to underside on the glaze accumulation on foot rim.

Small frit to shredded clay to rim.

Some small flakes to shredded clay, lizard's mouth and tail tip, and beetle's horn.

KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to lizards tail.

RESTORATION: two old filled chips to foot rim.
