F. Gomes D'Avellar Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features a snake, giant snail, worm, grub, butterfly, and moth.
Colouration: green, ochre, brown, are predominant. The piece bears maker's marks for the F. Gomes D'Avellar pottery.
Generally good. Small chip and some flaking to shredded clay.
Two chips to foot rim and one to butterfly's wing.
Flake to snail's shell.
KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to snake.
RESTORATION. Remodelled antennae to snail.
Filled chips to moth's wings.
Retouching to shredded clay.
