Small Majolica Palissy snake and snail plate

Victorian, circa 1890. 5.7ins high, 5.7ins wide, 2.6ins depth.

Cunha Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features a snake attacking a snail, surrounded by a grub, worm, beetle and a moth.

Colouration: green, ochre, grey, are predominant. The piece bears maker's marks for the Cunha pottery. Bears a pattern number, 'No.6'.

Condition

Generally good. Small chips to beetle's legs and end of grub.

Some small, minor flakes to shredded clay,

grub and to moth's wings.

RESTORATION. Retouching under grub.

Filled chip to end of worm.
