Majolica Palissy lizard, snake & salamander plate

Victorian, circa 1890. 9ins high, 8.9ins wide, 3.1ins depth. Palissy Majolica wall plate which features a snake, lizard, salamander and another reptile.



Colouration: green, ochre, blue, are predominant.

CONDITION: Good.

Chip to lizard's claw



and piece of shredded clay to ground.



Some small flakes to shredded clay.











KILN EFFECTS: touch mark to reptile's back;



a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the lizard;







over glazed chip to lizard's claw.



RESTORATION: retouched flakes to foot rim
