Rare Majolica Palissy bird on nest pot & cover
Victorian, circa 1890. 5.5ins high, 4.7ins wide, 4.7ins depth. Unidentified Portuguese Palissy Majolica pot and cover which features a bird with a nest full of eggs.
Colouration: cream, green, grey, are predominant.
Condition
CONDITION: Pot: Generally good. Two tiny chips to the inner rim.
Three chips to leaf edges.
Some flakes to the leaves, branches to base, inner rim, and shredded clay.
RESTORATION: filled chips to flowers and leaves; retouched flakes to flowers, leaves and inner rim.
Cover: Good. Two chips to shredded clay.
Flaking to flange.
RESTORATION: filled chip to bird's beak and flange.
