Minton Majolica jug/pitcher which features a putti being held aloft by a mermaid on one side and a merman on the other.
Colouration: green, ochre, blue, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery. Bears a pattern number, '474'. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1873.
Good. No restoration. Clean drill hole in underside of base, which goes through to the inside of the jug.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze run to the brown glaze;
shrinkage crack between putti's legs;
a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the exterior.
