Majolica Oyster plate

Victorian, circa 1890. 9.6ins high, 9.6ins wide, 1.1ins depth. Majolica oyster plate which features six oyster wells surrounding a circular central well. Colouration: blue, brown, ochre, are predominant.

Condition

Good. Slight wear to the high points of the molding.

KILN EFFECTS: small piece of kiln detritus caught in the glaze;

flecks of stray coloured glaze to two of the wells;

uneven glaze application to the ground.

RESTORATION: Filled chip to rim.

Retouched flake to rim.
