
Victorian, circa 1869. 7.5ins high, 4.3ins wide, 3.1ins depth. Minton Majolica match holder which features a Hogarth girl, sat on a rock, and holding a brown wicker basket. Colouration: green, brown, cream, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1869.
Very good. No restoration. KILN EFFECTS: small firing pit to basket interior;
a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to her dress on reverse;
brown glaze run to basket.
