Antique Sampler, 1718, by Ann Frith

George I, dated 1718. 12.50ins by 8.25ins wide.

1718 Sampler by Ann Frith. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.

Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches including Algerian eye.

No border, divider lines in various patterns.

Colours red, pale blue, black, cream and pale green.

Signed and dated 'Ann Frith Her Sampler Ageed 10 Years 1718'.

A scattering of Angel motifs.

CONDITION: Good. A few old tack holes to the extreme edges.

A few stain specks and some pale patchy staining.

Some stitch losses to the divider lines, the signature and letters.

Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run. Neatly and evenly stretched. Frame in very good condition, ready to hang.
