George III, dated 1807. 5.5ins by 8.25ins wide.

1807 Darning Sampler by Ann Bartram Cook. Framed in an old, possibly original, Hogarth frame with rippled, old glass.

Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.

No border.

Colours blues and gold.

Signed and dated

'Ann Bartram Cook 1807'.

Comprises of darning panels worked in various different styles and patterns.

CONDITION: Generally good.

A few holes.

One pale patchy stains,

and a slight vertical fold line to the centre.

No stitch losses other than to the holed areas.

Colours are mostly good and strong with no noticeable fading.

No colour run.

Neatly and evenly stretched.

Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
