
George II, dated 1656. 19ins high by 8ins wide. 1656 band Sampler by MH. Framed in a modern black frame with rippled, old glass.
Mainly loose mounted over wood with brown paper backing, however there are a few random tacks.
The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.
Divider lines in various patterns.
Colours blues, cream, red, white, orange, greens and gold. Alphabets A-Z in upper case.
Signed with initials and dated 'MH 1656'.
Consists of a variety of elaborately worked floral and foliate bands.
CONDITION: Good. No holes. Staining to the outer edges.
No stitch losses. Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run. Stretching is slightly uneven.
Small piece of detritus under the glass in top right.
Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
