
William IV, dated 1836. 16.5ins high by 13ins wide. 1836 Sampler by Rachel Smith. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.
Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.
The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.
Meandering floral border.
Colours gold, green, dark brown, copper, red and blues.

Signed and dated 'Rachel Smith Aged 9 Years September 30 1836'.
A wonderful set of motifs, including one of St Paul's Chapel, York Place, in Edinburgh,
flowers, birds
and potted flowering plants.
CONDITION: Good. A few small holes to ground, one with repair.
No stains. Minor stitch losses to border and to a couple of the motifs.
Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run. Stretching is slightly uneven.
Frame in very good condition, ready to hang.
