Pair Staffordshire standing lions
Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 6.9ins high, 5.9ins wide, 2.6ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a lion, stood on a shaped base.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse. Vent hole to the reverse.
Maker's marks painted to the underside.
Condition
Right facing: Good. No restoration. Tight hairline to lion's left hind leg.
Some paint losses to lion and ground.
KILN EFFECTS: touch mark to left side of face;
kiln soot caught in the glaze to the reverse;
shrinkage line to the top and underside of the base.
Left facing: Good. No restoration. Some paint losses to the lion and ground.
KILN EFFECTS: kiln soot caught in the glaze to the front and reverse;
a piece of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the lion's front left paw.
