Staffordshire hen on nest tureen

Victorian, circa 1860. 7.2ins high, 8.3ins wide, 6.4ins depth. Staffordshire tureen with cover which features a hen
sitting on her eggs on an oval basketweave tureen, resting on an oval basketweave tureen base.



Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

CONDITION: Hen: Good. No restoration.

Some paint losses around the rim





and to hen's markings.







Wear to tip of beak.



Nest: Generally good. No restoration.

Five small chips and a bruise to the inner rim.









Flake to exterior.



Some paint losses.









Very slight wear to interior.



KILN EFFECTS: three small over glazed chips to the inner rim.
