Victorian, circa 1860. 6.3ins high, 7.5ins wide, 5.4ins depth. Staffordshire tureen with cover with a pastoral theme which features a hen with her two chicks, seated on a basketweave oval base.
White and gilt version. Dull gilt embellishment.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Some paint losses to hen's head and beak.
Rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: touch mark to rim;
stray black glaze to hen's tail;
slight staining to hen's neck.
Nest: Good. No restoration.
Some wear around the rim
and to exterior.
KILN EFFECTS: slight staining and stray ochre glaze to inner rim.
