Staffordshire large hen on nest tureen
Victorian, circa 1860. 9.8ins high, 11.8ins wide, 9.3ins depth.
Staffordshire egg tureen and cover which features a hen, resting on an oval basketweave tureen base.
Multi-coloured version. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Condition
Hen: Good. A few paint losses to the hen.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze miss to the underside;
some stained crazing to the underside.
RESTORATION. Filled chip to underside.
Nest: Generally good. A few paint losses to the exterior.
KIILN EFFECTS: stained craze lines to the interior and underside;
kiln soot caught in the glaze to the interior.
RESTORATION. Filled chips and retouched flakes to the inner rim.
