Small Pair No.5 Staffordshire black & white spaniels
Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 6.5ins high, 4.7ins wide, 3ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a spaniel, seated directly on the ground, no base.
Black and white version.
Dull gilt embellishment.
Flatback, decorated mainly to the front. Vent hole to the reverse.
Maker's marks painted to the underside.

Condition
CONDITION: Right facing: Good. No restoration.
A few paint losses to dog's face and paws.
Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the reverse;
shrinkage line just above dog's left leg;
glaze pops to left ear.
Left facing: Good. No restoration.
Some small flakes to tail and lower base edge.
Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the front and reverse;
shrinkage line to front right leg.
