Staffordshire Creamware Neptune figure
pre-Victorian, circa 1790. 11.2ins high, 3.4ins wide, 3.4ins depth. Staffordshire creamware figure with a mythological theme which features Neptune and a dolphin,
stood on a square hollow base.
(Neptune's trident is absent).
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Open bottomed.

Condition
CONDITION: Good. No restoration.
Chip to one corner to base.
Flaking to the square base,
green leaves,
Neptune's nose,
toes,
right elbow
and leg.
KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to Neptune's left side;
slight staining;
glaze run to Neptune's robe;
glaze miss to one side of Neptune's neck.
