Pair Staffordshire whippets with hares
Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 7.7ins high, 8.1ins wide, 2.5ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a whippet with a hare in it's mouth, stood on a shaped base.
Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Vent hole to the underside.

Condition
CONDITION: Right facing: Good.
Small chip to hind right ankle.
Slight rubbing to gilt.
Wear to the whippet's back.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze miss to the ground.
RESTORATION. Remodelled whippet's right ear.
Left facing: Generally good. No restoration.
Tight hairline to both front legs.
Small flake to both whippet's ears.
Some rubbing to gilt.
Wear to the whippet's back.
KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the ground;
touch marks to the ground;
a few specks of kiln grit caught in the glaze to the ground.
