Large Staffordshire greyhound on cobalt blue base

Victorian, circa 1860. 7.9ins high, 10.4ins wide, 4.1ins depth. Staffordshire figure which features a whippet with a dead hare, recumbent on a shaped base.





Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse. Vent hole to the underside.

Condition

CONDITION: Generally good. Shallow chips to top of whippet's head.



Flake to left eyebrow.



Some paint losses to black enamel.









Slight wear to whippet's body.









KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to the underside;



kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the base;



shrinkage cracks to the hind legs;





flecks of stray coloured glaze to the whippet.







RESTORATION. Filled chip to left front paw.
