Victorian, circa 1840. 5.2ins high, 3.9ins wide, 2.8ins depth. Walton Staffordshire pearlware bocage figure which features a lion
in front of a flowering tree, recumbent on a shaped scroll work base.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Maker's marks Walton molded ribbon.
Condition
CONDITION: Good.
Some small flakes to bocage
and blue scroll to base.
Flake to lions mane.
Slight wear to bocage at reverse.
KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to base of tree at reverse;
touch mark to base front;
kiln detritus caught in the glaze to right ear.
RESTORATION: bocage is 95% original, with a few filled chips to flowers and leaves;
