Large Pair Staffordshire white & gilt spaniels
Victorian, circa 1880. Tallest is 14.8ins high, 9.8ins wide, 5.1ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a spaniel, seated directly on the ground, no base.
White and gilt version. Bright gilt embellishment.
Decorated mainly to the front.
Vent holes to reverse and underside.
Condition
CONDITION: Right facing: Good.
Some rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: piece of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to tail and to reverse;
flecks of stray coloured glaze to the front.
RESTORATION. Retouched paint loss to nose.
Left facing: Good.
Some flakes to tail.
Some rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the tail;
flecks of stray coloured glaze to the front;
shrinkage crack between front feet.
And one near dogs chest.
RESTORATION. Retouched paint loss to left eye and muzzle.
