Staffordshire recumbent spaniel figure
Victorian, circa 1860. 5.5ins high, 7.9ins wide, 4.3ins depth.
Staffordshire figure which features a spaniel, recumbent directly on the ground, no base.
Russet and white version. Dull gilt embellishment.
Flatback, decorated only to the front. Vent hole to the reverse.
Book reference not found.
Condition
Good. No restoration. Small flake to the reverse.
A few paint losses to nose, ears and markings.
Some rubbing to gilt;
shrinkage cracks to lower base edge and between some of the dog's legs;
firing hole to reverse;
kiln soot caught in the glaze to front and reverse.
