Pair Staffordshire Crimean War sailor & girl figures
Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 8.7ins high, 3.5ins wide, 2.6ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire figures with a military theme which feature a sailor and a girl each holding a flag, stood on a circular base.
Multi-coloured with underglaze blue version. Dull gilt base line and embellishment.
Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.
Vent holes to the underside.
This piece represents people of the Crimean war (c.1853-1856).

CONDITION: Male: Good.
Small chip to underside of base.
Some rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze accumulation to the face and neck.
RESTORATION: Retouched paint losses to flag,
hair
and neck tie.
Female: Good.
Small flake to nose.
Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the reverse
and one also to her face.
RESTORATION. Retouched paint losses to orange,
red
and black enamel.
