Staffordshire Napoleon & Albert Figure

Victorian, circa 1860. 11.2ins high, 5.1ins wide, 2.2ins depth. Staffordshire figure with a military theme which features Napoleon and Albert, stood on an oblong base.





The piece is titled, 'NAPOLEON. ALBERT' .



Multi-coloured with underglaze blue version. Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.
This piece represents the alliance between England and France during the Crimean war. Maker's marks to the underside.

Condition

CONDITION: Good. No restoration. A few paint losses to their eyes, hair and the cannon.









Some rubbing to gilt.





KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to the right hand side mold line;





shrinkage line to the reverse of the base;



a speck of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the top base.
